Alison Standley
Originally from the UK, Alison Standley has been teaching English for many years in Istanbul as well as Basel, Switzerland and Belgrade, Serbia. Her experience includes working as a teacher trainer, language teacher, curriculum coordinator and assistant department head but her favorite place is in the classroom. She is now teaching year 9 at Robert College as well as assisting with the school drama productions.
Jake Becker
Jake Becker has been teaching English for fifteen years, the last five at Robert College. He currently teaches drama and creative arts at Robert College and runs the RC Theatre Company. Jake has made presentations in Turkey on vocabulary acquisition, feedback on student writing, poetry and student forums. He is the author of Public Achievement: 5-days a Week, a manual for teaching students active citizenship. He received his Bachelors In English and German from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire and his Masters of Education from the University of Minnesota.
Francis van der Hoeven
Francis van der Hoeven is an English teacher from Canada. He has taught in schools around Turkey for over 20 years and has also worked as a department head, assistant principal, and curriculum coordinator. He is particularly interested in using cooperation between students to increase the amount they communicate in classes.
ANA SHAW
Ana Shaw has had a wide-ranging experience, having taught Years 6 to 13 English and Media in three different countries, working with six different examination boards. She has worked with IGCSE, and MYP in Turkey. When she is not teaching she usually runs a TV show club and currently runs a girl’s soccer club. Her hobbies are reading teen novels and she is a fan of the cinema, a lover of art and music and part-time blogger.
